John Weir (born 8 February 1959 in Tarrytown, New York) is an American writer."WEIR, John 1959-" encyclopedia.com. He is the author of two novels, ''The Irreversible Decline of Eddie Socket'' (HarperCollins, 1989), which won the Lambda Literary Award for Lambda Literary Award for Debut Fiction, Gay Debut Fiction at the 2nd Lambda Literary Awards in 1990, and for which he received an NEA Fellowship in Fiction in 1991; and ''What I Did Wrong'' (Viking, 2006); and the story collection ''Your Nostalgia Is Killing Me'', which won the 2020 AWP Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction, and was published by Red Hen Press in 2022. Tarrytown, New York
Tarrytown is a village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County, New York. It is located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, approximately north of Midtown Manhattan in New York City, and is served by a stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the north of Tarrytown is the village of Sleepy Hollow (formerly "North Tarrytown"), to the south the village of Irvington and to the east unincorporated parts of Greenburgh. The Tappan Zee Bridge crosses the Hudson at Tarrytown, carrying the New York State Thruway (Interstates 87 and 287) to South Nyack, Rockland County and points in Upstate New York. The population was 11,860 at the 2020 census.
