John Wedgwood (horticulturist)
John Wedgwood (baptised 2 April 1766 – 26 January 1844), the eldest son of the potter Josiah Wedgwood, was a partner in the Wedgwood pottery firm 1790–1793 and again 1800–1812. Life Wedgwood was educated at Warrington Academy and the University of Edinburgh. Wedgwood had an interest in botany and horticulture, particularly the cultivation of tropical fruit and other exotic plants. He was a founder of the Royal Horticultural Society having suggested the idea in a letter to William Forsyth, head gardener to King George III, written 29 June 1801 and chairing the first meeting of the society on 7 March 1804. He lived in Abergavenny, Wales, and at Kingscote, Gloucestershire. He was a partner in the Davison and Co. bank in Pall Mall. The Bank failed in 1816, after which time he retired. John Allen Wedgwood
The Reverend John Allen Wedgwood (1796 – 19 July 1882), normally known as Allen Wedgwood was rector of Maer Staffordshire. Wedgwood was the fifth of six children and the fourth and youngest son of John Wedgwood, the horticulturist, of Etruria, Staffordshire and Cote House, Bristol, and his wife Louisa Jane Allen, daughter of John Bartlett Allen of Cresselly, Pembrokeshire. His paternal grandfather had been the potter Josiah Wedgwood who died the year prior to his birth, and the Josiah Wedgwood & Sons pottery company that he had founded gave the family considerable wealth. He was educated at Westminster School. He was ordained as a deacon in the Church of England in 1821 and a priest in 1822. He was admitted to Downing College, Cambridge in 1824 as a ten-year man. Sir John Wedgwood, 2nd Baronet
Sir John Hamilton Wedgwood, 2nd Baronet, (16 November 1907 – 8 December 1989) was a British politician and industrialist. Biography Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Wedgwood was the son of Sir Ralph Wedgwood, 1st Baronet and his wife Iris Veronica Pawson, daughter of Albert Henry Pawson. His younger sister was the historian C.V. Wedgwood. Sir John was educated at Winchester College, at Trinity College, Cambridge and in Europe, where he learnt several languages.
