John Vaughan, 1st Earl Of Carbery
John Vaughan, 1st Earl of Carbery (1574 or 1575 – 6 May 1634) was a Welsh courtier and politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1601 and from 1621 to 1622. He served Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, and later Prince Charles, heir to the throne of King James I. However, his career ended when the Prince acceded to the throne in 1625, and he later estimated that serving the Prince had cost him £20,000, which went unrecompensed. The Perkins Addition was a 13-house development in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ten of its houses survived in 1983 and nine were each individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History The Perkins Addition was a "streetcar subdivision" development of 13 brick houses, all built in 1891 by a Denver investment company, ten of which survived in 1983 and nine of which were listed on the National Register. John Vaughan (wine Merchant)
John Vaughan (15 January 1756 – 30 December 1841) was a wine merchant, philanthropist, and long-time treasurer and librarian of the American Philosophical Society. A native of England, Vaughan settled in Philadelphia in 1782, becoming a respected citizen of the city, and working for literary, scientific and benevolent causes. During five decades of service to the Society, Vaughan was instrumental in building its library collection and introducing many scientists and historians to each other through his letters and Sunday breakfasts. John Vaughan (born 26 June 1964) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who was goalkeeping coach at Bradford City. As a player he was a goalkeeper who made nearly 400 league appearances notably in the Football League with lengthy spells at Fulham, Cambridge United, Preston North End and Lincoln City. He also made brief appearances for Charlton Athletic, Bristol Rovers, Wrexham, Bristol City, Colchester United and Chesterfield. Playing career A goalkeeper, Vaughan came up through the youth ranks at West Ham United although he didn't make a first team appearance at Upton Park. Whilst at West Ham he was sent out on loan to gain experience at Charlton Athletic, Bristol Rovers, Wrexham and Bristol City before Fulham paid £12,500 for his permanent services in the summer of 1986. John Henry Vaughan MC KC (Fiji) (9 February 1892 – 16 April 1965) was a lawyer and ornithologist who served as Attorney General of Zanzibar and later as Attorney General of Fiji. Early life Vaughan was educated at Eastbourne College and then studied law at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Career He is best known for his work in the British Empire's legal service as Attorney General of Zanzibar in the 1930s, and then as Attorney General of Fiji from 1945 to 1949. His work, ''The Dual Jurisdiction in Zanzibar,'' described the Protectorate's system of indirect British rule, whereby sovereignty technically remained with the Sultan of Zanzibar but with virtually all effective power in the hands of British-appointed officials. John Howard Vaughan CBE (14 November 1879 – 21 August 1955), known as Howard, was an Australian politician. He was a member of the South Australian Legislative Council from 1912 to 1918, representing the United Labor Party (1912-1917) and the National Party (1917-1918). He served as the Attorney-General of South Australia from 1915 to 1917. In the 1917 Labor split, Vaughan was expelled along with his brother, Premier Crawford Vaughan, and joined the new National Party. Upon the defeat of the Vaughan ministry in July 1917, Vaughan did not nominate for a position in the new coalition ministry of Archibald Peake, and enlisted to serve in World War I.
