John Tomlinson (comics)
John Tomlinson is a British comic book writer and editor known for his work on various '' 2000 AD'' strips. He has occasionally been credited as Sonny Steelgrave. Biography Tomlinson worked at Marvel UK in the early 1990s and helped nurture various talents, including Matthew Bingham and John Freeman. He has co-written strips with Nick Abadzis. He was editor of '' 2000 AD'' from 1994 to 1996, and the '' Judge Dredd Megazine'' and ''Judge Dredd – Lawman of the Future'' briefly in 1996. He also wrote several stories for ''2000 AD''. Tomlinson currently works for British part work publisher Eaglemoss. Knights Of Pendragon
The Knights of Pendragon is a superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team was published by the imprint Marvel UK in a self-titled comic from 1990 to 1993, and in the anthology title '' Overkill''. It was written by Dan Abnett and John Tomlinson with art by Gary Erskine. Pendragon is an alternate name for King Arthur. Publication history The comic was created during a period of attempted expansion by Marvel UK, trying to build on the critical success of Captain Britain. ''Knights of Pendragon'' was initially a highly political and environmental comic, its themes borrowing heavily from British folklore and the growing New Age and neopagan subcultures. Tharg The Mighty
Tharg the Mighty or The Mighty One is the fictional editor of the British science fiction comic '' 2000 AD''. The character was introduced on the cover of the first issue in 1977 and is one of only two characters to appear in almost every issue of the comic, the other being Judge Dredd. Tharg rarely appears in stories but strips involving him have been written by such notable writers as Alan Grant, Alan Moore and John Wagner, albeit usually credited to "TMO" – "The Mighty One". Characterisation Tharg is depicted as an alien from Quaxxann, a fictional planet that orbits the star Betelgeuse. Dermot Power, originally from County Waterford, Ireland, is a movie concept artist who started his career as a comic book artist working for British anthology comic '' 2000 AD''. Biography He got his break in comic books when he was commissioned to do the cover of a Judge Dredd video game back in 1990. His painterly covers quickly established him as a major talent. Andy Lanning
Andy Lanning is an English comic book writer and inker, known for his work for Marvel Comics and DC Comics, and for his collaboration with Dan Abnett. Career Lanning works primarily at Marvel Comics and DC Comics as an inker. He has also pencilled books, such as his creation '' The Sleeze Brothers''. Lanning's writing has included his and Abnett's 2000 relaunch of DC's title ''Legion of Super-Heroes''. The two co-created the Resurrection Man character with artist Jackson Guice in 1997. Lanning and Abnett also collaborated on an ongoing ''Nova'' series for Marvel, which premiered in 2007. Greg Staples (born 27 May 1970 in Sheffield) is an English comic book artist. Biography Greg Staples' first job on leaving school was as a trainee draftsman in an architects office in Sheffield. Jim Baikie
James George Baikie (28 February 1940 – 29 December 2017) was a Scottish comics artist best known for his work with Alan Moore on '' Skizz''. He was also a musician. Biography Baikie served as a Corporal with the Royal Air Force in 1956–1963 before joining a printing company. Baikie joined Morgan-Grampian studio as an artist in 1964 and was an illustrator for the National Savings Committee in 1965–1966. Balkie was a bass guitarist in bands ''James Fenda and the Vulcans'' and ''Compass'' among others. Baikie began his comics career illustrating the romance comic '' Valentine'' for Fleetway. Amadeus Wolf
Amadeus Wolf (28 January 2003 – 2017) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He had his greatest success as a two-year-old in 2005 when he won three of his five races including the Gimcrack Stakes and the Middle Park Stakes. He failed to win in the following year but ran well in several major sprint races, finishing second in the Nunthorpe Stakes and third in both the Prix Maurice de Gheest and the Haydock Sprint Cup.
