John Tidwell (basketball)
John W. Tidwell is a retired American basketball player and medical doctor. He played for the University of Michigan from 1958 to 1961 and broke the school's records for points scored in a single game and single season. He later became an obstetrician-gynecologist in Charlotte, North Carolina. Biography Early years Tidwell grew up in Herrin in southern Illinois. He played basketball for Herrin High School from 1955 to 1957, leading the school to a 28–3 record as a junior and 31–2 as a senior. In 1957, the 6 feet, 4 inch Tidwell was the tallest player and the high scorer for the Herrin High School team that won the Illinois state basketball championship. Herrin defeated Elgin in the quarter-finals, Quincy Notre Dame in the semi-finals, and Collinsville in the championship game. Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team based in San Francisco. The Warriors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league's Western Conference Pacific Division. Dave Strack
David H. Strack (March 2, 1923 – January 25, 2014) was an American athletic director for the University of Arizona and head basketball coach of the University of Michigan. He was inducted to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Early life Strack grew up in Indiana and graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, where he was the basketball team's captain and MVP in 1941 and named to the Indiana All-Star team. Strack played college basketball at the University of Michigan (UM), earning MVP honors in 1943 and 1946. Basketball career Strack briefly played professionally for the Indianapolis Kautskys of the NBL. He returned to UM and served as an assistant coach from 1948 to 1959, then left in June 1959 to become the head coach at the University of Idaho. Yost Ice Arena, formerly the Fielding H. Yost Field House, is an indoor ice hockey arena located on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team represents the University of Minnesota in NCAA Division I college basketball competition. Don Schlundt
Don Schlundt (March 15, 1933 — October 10, 1985) was an American college basketball player. He was born in St. Joseph County, Indiana, to Martin and Anna (née Bodtke) Schlundt. He died in Indianapolis. Collegiate career Schlundt, a 6'9 center, played collegiately at Indiana University after a standout high school career at Washington Clay High School in South Bend, Indiana. He played for the Hoosiers from 1951-1955. Freshmen were eligible to play college basketball in 1952 due to the Korean War, making Schlundt one of the hundreds of 1950's-era players to compete for four varsity seasons. Schlundt led the Hoosiers to the 1953 National Championship. Schlundt was named an All-American in 1953, 1954 and 1955. The Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Michigan State University. Jerome Frederic Green (April 15, 1928 – March 23, 2023) was an American sports journalist and author. He was a staff writer for the Associated Press from 1956 to 1963 and for ''The Detroit News'' from 1963 to 2004. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. The Detroit Mercy Titans men's basketball team is the college basketball team that represents University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan, and competes in NCAA Division I men's basketball as a member of the Horizon League.
