John Synowiecki
John Synowiecki (born November 28, 1963) is an American politician who is a former member of the Nebraska Legislature. He was also a program director for governmental relations for Catholic Charities. Personal life He was born on November 28, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Paul VI High School, a Roman Catholic high school, in 1982. In 1987 he graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in criminal justice and philosophy. Synowiecki is descended from Polish immigrants, and his grandmother was born in Poland. From 1990 to 2000 he was a probation officer and from 2000 to 2002 he was a probation supervisor. He won the Nebraska State Probation Officer of the Year in 1998. The Nebraska Legislature (also called the Unicameral) is the legislature of the U.S. state of Nebraska. The Legislature meets at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln. With 49 members, known as "senators", the Nebraska Legislature is the smallest state legislature of any U.S. state. The University of Nebraska Omaha (Omaha or UNO) is a public research university in Omaha, Nebraska. Founded in 1908 by faculty from the Omaha Presbyterian Theological Seminary as a private non-sectarian college, the university was originally known as the University of Omaha. Originally meant to provide a Christian-based education free from ecclesiastical control, the university served as a strong alternative to the city's many successful religiously affiliated institutions. Tony Vargas
Anthony Vargas (born September 2, 1984) is an American educator and politician serving as a member of the Nebraska Legislature. Vargas represents the 7th district, which covers all of downtown Omaha and much of southeastern Omaha. Early life and education Vargas was born to Antonio and Lidia Vargas in Queens, New York City, who were originally from Peru. He was the youngest of three brothers. He graduated from the University of Rochester and received a Master of Science in education from Pace University. Career Vargas is a former public school teacher. Jeremiah J. Nordquist (born November 10, 1981) is a politician from the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. Nordquist represented an Omaha district in the Nebraska Legislature from 2009 to 2015. He served in the Unicameral as a member of the Democratic Party, but is now a registered Republican. Poles in Omaha, Nebraska arrived relatively early in the city's history. The first Polish immigrants came in the 1870s, and the community grew past 1000 in the late 1890s. By the 1930s there were 10,000 of Polish descent, and Omaha claimed the largest such community of the Great Plains.
