John Snodgrass (diplomat)
John Michael Owen Snodgrass (12 August 1928 – 4 February 2008) was a British diplomat. He was educated at Marlborough College and Trinity Hall, Cambridge (MA). Nicholas Bayne
Sir Nicholas Peter Bayne, KCMG (born 15 February 1937) is a retired British diplomat. Biography The son of Captain Ronald Bayne, RN and Elisabeth Ashcroft, Bayne was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, where he graduated MA and DPhil. He joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1961, and was posted at the British Embassy in Manilla (1963–66) and Bonn (1969–72). Seconded to HM Treasury in 1974–75, he then became Financial Counsellor at the British Embassy in Paris in 1975–79. He was head of the Financial Relations Department (later Economic Relations Department) at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1979–82, and was attached to the Royal Institute of International Affairs in 1982–83. Bayne was appointed British Ambassador to Zaire in 1983, with concurrent accreditation to the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi from 1984. He was seconded to the Civil Service Selection Board in 1985.
