John Shumway
John Shumway is an American journalist, working at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shumway began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WLAP Radio in Lexington, Kentucky. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Eastern Kentucky University in 1978. After graduation, he started his news career in the WLAP Radio newsroom. In 1979, Shumway moved to WHAS Radio News in Louisville, Kentucky, where he switched over to WHAS-TV News as a reporter in 1982. He joined KDKA-TV in October 1988 as a General Assignment Reporter. At KDKA-TV, he has anchored the morning and weekend news. Previously , he was a featured General Assignment Reporter on the station's evening newscasts. He was also featured on KDKA-AM where he co-hosted the ''KDKA Morning News'' with Larry Richert and Shelly Duffy until he left in April 2020. He is now a member of the KDKA-TV Morning News team. WHAS (840 AM) is a radio station owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and licensed to Louisville, Kentucky. Its studios are located in the Louisville enclave of Watterson Park, and the transmitter site is in Long Run, in far east Jefferson County. Larry Richert
Larry Richert (born c. 1960 in Millvale, Pennsylvania) is an American journalist. Education and career Born in the Pittsburgh suburb of Millvale, Pennsylvania and raised in nearby McCandless Township, Richert graduated from North Allegheny High School and Clarion University. He joined KDKA-TV in November 1988 when he was tapped to host "Wake Up with Larry Richert," a half-hour morning show that aired on KDKA-TV from 6:30 to 7 a.m. Larry graduated from Clarion State College and was a student there from 1977 to 1981, where is had several radio shows on WCUC and WWCH. He was also was announcer for Clarion football. His major was Communications. In June 1990, the station reformatted its morning program to be more newscast-like.
