John William Shaw, Officer of the Order of Australia, AO Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE (12 October 192424 February 2003) was an Australian people, Australian operatic baritone best known for his appearances at The Royal Opera, The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, where he spent 15 seasons. Life and career Shaw was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle, New South Wales, in 1924. Both his grandfathers were singers and he himself took an interest in singing at a young age, performing with his church choir and amateur musicals and concerts. In Melbourne he studied under Henri and Annie Portnoj and joined the Australian National Theatre Opera Company where he performed in dozens of small roles and gained stage experience. John Luis Shaw
John Luis Shaw (1870–1952) was a Seventh-day Adventist missionary, educator, and treasurer. He graduated from the scientific course at Battle Creek College (now Andrews University) in 1893 and became dean of men at Union College. In 1897 he became principal of Claremont Union College in South Africa. In 1901 he was ordained and sent to India, where he oversaw the establishment of the Watchman Press in 1903 and was in charge of the field from 1901 to 1912. He returned to the United States because of poor health in 1912 and was appointed principal of the Washington Foreign Mission Seminary. From 1913 to 1915 he was secretary of the General Conference Department of Education. From 1922 to 1936 he was treasurer of the General Conference. During his retirement he served for a time as board chair of Loma Linda University. John David Shaw (born 24 April 1962) is an English former field hockey player. Shaw represented Great Britain in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He also won a silver medal with England at the 1986 World Cup. He also won an Olympic gold medal in Seoul. Shaw was born in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. He is working as a Hockey Coach at Bradfield College, and also coaches at Gerrards Cross Hockey Club. John Shaw (born 4 February 1954 in Stirling, Scotland) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He made over 400 Football League appearances in the 1970s and 1980s. Career John Shaw played youth football with Leeds United. Shaw signed professional for Leeds United in February 1971. Shaw gained first team experience in the UEFA Cup with Leeds United, notably in a 0–4 defeat at home to Lierse S. K. of Belgium, but never appeared in the Football League for the club. Alan Dicks signed Shaw in May 1974 on a free transfer from Leeds United for Bristol City. Jimmy Mann made the same move at the same time. John Hilary Shaw (18 October 1931 – 5 August 2018) was an Australian cricketer. He played first-class cricket for Victoria from 1953 to 1961. He toured New Zealand with the Australian team in 1959–60, but did not play Test cricket. Life and career Shaw attended St Joseph's College, Geelong. Like his uncle, Lindsay Hassett, he played for South Melbourne Cricket Club, where he eventually made more than 5000 runs. He made his first-class debut for Victoria against Tasmania in 1953–54 as a middle-order batsman. He established himself in the state team in 1955–56 as an opener, scoring 82, the highest score of the match, in Victoria's victory over Queensland in the first match of the season. John Shaw (2 October 1916 – 22 October 1973) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Oldham Athletic, Grimsby Town and Birmingham. He played as a wing half or centre half. Life and career Shaw was born in Oldham, Lancashire. A nephew of George Tyson, who played Rugby league for Oldham and Great Britain, Shaw played local football for South Shore Wesleyans and for Lytham before joining Oldham Athletic in 1934. He appeared only twice in the Football League in two seasons with Oldham, and joined Mossley of the Cheshire County League, where he made 44 appearances in all competitions in the 1936–37 season.
