John Shannon (sportscaster)
John Shannon (born June 21, 1956) is a Canadian sportscaster, television producer, and former panelist on Rogers Sportsnet's ''Hockey Central''. In 2003, he won a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Sports Special for his work on NBC's broadcast of the XIX Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. On October 7, 2008 Shannon was named Executive In Charge of Programming and Production for NHL Network in addition to being Executive Vice President of Programming and Production for the National Hockey League. On September 28, 2009, Shannon left the NHL Network to become an on-air panelist for Rogers Sportsnet as a member of their ''Hockey Central'' studio panel. ''Prime Time Sports'' was a sports radio talk show produced from the studios of CJCL, ''Sportsnet 590 The Fan'', in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The show was hosted by Bob McCown until June 21, 2019 when McCown left the show. Mississauga ( ), historically known as Toronto Township, is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Robert Alan "Bob" McCown (born in Columbus, Ohio) is an American-Canadian radio personality. He is best known as the long-time host of the Canadian sports talk show ''Prime Time Sports'' from its inception on October 2, 1989 to June 21, 2019. He now currently hosts The Bob McCown podcast on his YouTube channel, which is also broadcast on satellite radio station Sirius XM weekdays from 6-7 p.m. Career McCown made his broadcast debut in 1975 as host of a nightly sports talk show on Foster Hewitt's CKFH, where he had been working in its sales department since being hired the previous year.
