John Scott Dance, formerly the Irish Modern Dance Theatre, is a Dublin based modern dance company. It was founded by John Scott in 1991 with the aim of creating, commissioning and expanding dance experience in Ireland. Background The Irish Modern Dance Theatre (IMDT) was founded in 1991 by Dublin born choreographer John Scott. In 1992 the company launched its first production, a piece called ''Beneath the Storm''. Many IMDT works have premiered in Dublin's Project Arts Centre, including ''Next to Skin''. ''Next to Skin'' was described as an attempt to take dancers of different backgrounds and languages including Arabic, Persian, French, German and Kabaye, and produce a "stream of consciousness, describing what the other dancers are doing,". Throughout the 90's IMDT had a number of shows that featured in the Dublin Theatre Festival such as ''Dance for Another Place'' in 1994, followed by ''Ruby Red'' in 1995, and ''You Must Tell the Bees'' in 1997. Kíla
Kíla is a 1987 Irish folk music/world music group from the Gaelscoil, Irish language secondary school, Coláiste Eoin, Coláiste Eóin in County Dublin. Antony and the Johnsons is an American music group presenting the work of Anohni and her collaborators. Career British experimental musician David Tibet of Current 93 heard a demo and offered to release Anohni's music through his Durtro label. Anohni started the band, its name inspired by trans activist Marsha P. Johnson. The debut album, ''Antony and the Johnsons'', was released in 1998. In 2001, while still known as Antony Hegarty, Anohni/Hegarty released a short follow-up EP, ''I Fell in Love with a Dead Boy'', which, in addition to the title track, included a cover of "Mysteries of Love", a David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti song and "Soft Black Stars", a Current 93 cover. Charles Atlas (Media Dance)
Charles Atlas is a video artist and film director who also does lighting and set design. He is a pioneer in developing media-dance, also called dance for camera. Media dance is work that is created directly for the camera. While Atlas’ primary artistic medium is video, he also began to experiment with live electronic performance in 2003. Atlas worked collaboratively with Merce Cunningham from 1975 to 1981. Modern dance is a broad genre of western concert or theatrical dance which included dance styles such as ballet, folk, ethnic, religious, and social dancing; and primarily arose out of Europe and the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
