John Scott (Queensland Politician)
John Scott (20 June 1821 – 2 July 1898) was a grazier, company director and politician in colonial Queensland. Scott was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of John Scott and his wife Marion Purves. John Scott ''junior's'' wife was Agnes Thomson who died in July 1892. Business life Scott was educated at St Andrew's University and Edinburgh University, where he studied medicine. He arrived in New South Wales in 1843. For a time he was a squatter in Goulburn, New South Wales. Between 1851 and 1852 he was in the United Kingdom. He went to Queensland in 1855. He stocked Palm-Tree Creek, Dawson which he sold in 1865 but acquired further stations. Scott was a director of City Mutual Life Assurance Society and vice president of The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland. William Wentworth (Australian Politician)
William Charles Wentworth (8 September 1907 – 15 June 2003), usually known as Bill Wentworth and sometimes referred to by others as William Charles Wentworth IV, was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Liberal Party for most of his career and held ministerial office in the governments of John Gorton and William McMahon, serving as Minister for Social Services (1968–1972) and Minister in charge of Aboriginal Affairs (1968–1971). Wentworth served in the House of Representatives from 1949 to 1977, representing the New South Wales seat of Mackellar. He frequently crossed the floor and served his final months in parliament as an independent. George Griffiths (Australian Politician)
George Neville Griffiths (23 January 1840 – 28 April 1905) was a New South Wales colonial politician. He was born in Sydney to banker George Richard Griffiths and Letitita Chatfield. Educated in England, he graduated from Cambridge University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1861, soon returning to Australia. After a period in Queensland, he returned to Sydney and purchased property throughout both colonies, also founding a stock agents' firm. On 3 March 1874 he married Ada Frances Scott, the daughter of John Scott M.L.A. and M.L.C., with whom he had eight children. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for East Sydney in 1882, but he was defeated in 1885. Griffiths died in Darlinghurst in 1905.
