John Saul (1913–1979) was an Australian actor and director, one of the leading figures in Australian radio of the 1940s and 1950s. He was married to actress Georgie Sterling and was an early mentor of Rod Taylor. For many years he played Dave Rudd on radio in ''Dad and Dave from Snake Gully''. Georgie Sterling
Georgie Sterling was an Australian actress, noted for her work in radio and television, especially in TV films and serials, although she also appeared in theatre. She started her career in the late 1950s and appeared in a TV movie version of Hamlet. In serials she played Isabella Drysdale in the ill-fated series ''Taurus Rising'' but is possibly best known for her role as May Walters in '' Sons and Daughters''. She also appeared in ''Homicide'', ''Matlock Police'' and ''A Country Practice''. She was married to fellow actor and radio producer John Saul. Rod Taylor
Rodney Sturt Taylor (11 January 1930 – 7 January 2015) was an Australian actor. He appeared in more than 50 feature films, including ''The Time Machine'' (1960), ''One Hundred and One Dalmatians'' (1961), '' The Birds'' (1963), and ''Inglourious Basterds'' (2009). Taylor was born in Lidcombe, a suburb of Sydney, to a father who was a steel construction contractor and commercial artist and a mother who was a children's author. He began taking art classes in high school, and continued in college. He decided to become an actor after seeing Laurence Olivier in an Old Vic touring production of '' Richard III.'' His first film role was in a re-enactment of Charles Sturt's voyage down the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers, playing Sturt's offsider, George Macleay. At the time, he was also appearing in a number of theatre productions for Australia's Mercury Theatre. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984. ''Dad and Dave from Snake Gully'' was an Australian radio drama series based on the On Our Selection stories of Steele Rudd. The series is more often referred to simply as ''Dad and Dave''. The theme tune was " The Road to Gundagai". The standard accent used by actors and announcers in Australian broadcasting at the time was typically " Southern English", an upper class British version that emulated the BBC.
