John Susskind Hayes, born Harold Spritz Susskind, (August 21, 1910 – October 14, 1981 Jacksonville, Florida) was an executive with The Washington Post Company, worked for three American Presidents, and was the List of ambassadors of the United States to Switzerland, American Ambassador to Switzerland from 1966 to 1969. Education Hayes (then Susskind) graduated from Germantown High School (Philadelphia), Germantown High School in 1927 and from the University of Pennsylvania in 1931 with a degree in History. While at Penn, he competed in fencing as a sophomore and junior and debating as a junior and senior; in his senior year, he was managing editor of The Record, the U Penn Yearbook and a member of the Quill Club.
