John Ryder (bishop)
John Ryder (c. 1697 – 4 February 1775) was the Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Connor, from 1743 to 1752, and then Archdiocese of Tuam (Church of Ireland), Archbishop of Tuam, from 1752 to his death in 1775. Life The son of Dudley Ryder, haberdasher, he was born at Nuneaton, Warwickshire, about 1697. His grandfather was another Dudley Ryder (died 1683), an Great Ejection, ejected Rector (ecclesiastical), rector of Bedworth. He was educated at Charterhouse School and Queens' College, Cambridge, where he graduated Bachelor of Arts, BA in 1715, Master of Arts (Oxbridge and Dublin), MA in 1719, and Doctor of Divinity, DD in 1741. In 1721 Ryder was appointed as vicar of Nuneaton and held the benefice, living until his appointment as Church of Ireland bishop of Killaloe by letters patent of 30 January 1742. John Ryder (state Senator)
John Ryder (14 August 1831 – 13 August 1911) was an American politician who served in the state legislatures of Ohio and Iowa. Ryder was born near Tiffin, Ohio, on 14 August 1831. He was educated within rural county schools, and became a merchant, specializing in wool and grain. Ryder was a member of the Whig Party. Sometime after the dissolution of the Whig Party, he joined the Republican Party and served one term on the Ohio House of Representatives starting in 1862. In 1870, Ryder relocated to Benton County, Iowa and began selling foodstuffs, specifically eggs and butter. Ryder backed Horace Greeley's 1872 presidential campaign, during which Greeley was backed by the Liberal Republican and Democratic political parties. Ryder himself was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1881, as a politically independent candidate from District 46. John Herbert Dudley Ryder, 5th Earl of Harrowby (22 August 1864 – 30 March 1956), briefly known as Viscount Sandon from March to December 1900, was a British peer and Conservative Member of Parliament. Harrowby was the son of Henry Dudley Ryder, 4th Earl of Harrowby, and Susan Juliana Maria Hamilton Dent. Career He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge.
