John Randall (public Servant)
John Randall, , is a former president of the National Union of Students, a position he held between 1973 and 1975. He was educated at Wallington County Grammar School and the University of York. From 1987 to 1997 he was director, professional standards and development of the Law Society of England and Wales. From 1997 to 2001 he was chief executive of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. Since 2001, he has worked as an independent consultant on higher education and professional training. He was chair of the Justice Sector Skills Council (Skills for Justice) for six years until 2010. From 2004 to 2015 he chaired the Police Negotiating Board. He retired in 2018. Wallington County Grammar School
Wallington County Grammar School (WCGS) is a selective state boys' grammar school with a coeducational Sixth Form located in the London Borough of Sutton. From 1968 to the mid-1990s the school was known as Wallington High School for Boys. One of a handful of grammar schools in the borough, it is consistently ranked as one of the top performing state schools in the country based on its GCSE and A-level results. History WCGS opened on 19 September 1927 on the 33rd birthday of its founding headmaster, W.T. Hutchins, with 71 pupils, half a mile from the current site. The building had a single storey, with a wooden extension. The school moved to its present site on Croydon Road in 1935. During the Second World War, WCGS was damaged by a V-2 bomb. Police Negotiating Board
The Police Negotiating Board (PNB) was a United Kingdom non-departmental public body established by Act of Parliament in 1980 to negotiate the pay and terms and conditions of employment of the British police. It was funded by the Home Office, and the Office of Manpower Economics provided the Board with an independent Secretariat. It was replaced by the Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB) on 1 October 2014 in England and Wales but remained active in Scotland. The PNB has an independent chairman and deputy chairman appointed by the Prime Minister, whose roles were to supply an independent voice in all negotiations. 2015 New Year Honours
The New Year Honours 2015 were appointments by some of the 16 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries.
