John Rade
John Anthony Rade (born August 31, 1960) is a former American football player, a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) from 1983 to 1991 with the Born in Ceres, California, Rade graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona. He attended Modesto Junior College and transferred to Boise State University and played for the Broncos in 1981 and 1982. He was an eighth-round draft choice in 1983, 215th overall. In 1988, Rade led Atlanta in tackles with 137 for the second straight year. He had four 100-plus tackle seasons in six years. Rade played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1983 to 1991, posting a career high 145 tackles in 1990. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. The 1981 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University in the 1981 NCAA Division I-AA football season. The Broncos competed in the Big Sky Conference and played their home games at Bronco Stadium, an outdoor facility on campus in Boise, Idaho. The Atlanta Falcons season was the franchise's 25th season in the National Football League (NFL). Jerry Glanville was hired to be the team’s new coach. The franchise changed their helmets from red to black. Atlanta looked to improve on its 3–13 record from 1989. The team did improve by finishing 5–11, but the Falcons still suffered an eighth consecutive losing season. 1990 started out pretty well for Atlanta, as they beat playoff contenders Houston, New Orleans, and Cincinnati at home. The team sat at 3–4 after their win against Cincinnati. It then lost seven games in a row before winning its last two to end the season.
