UC Davis Pepper Spray Incident
The UC Davis pepper-spray incident occurred on November 18, 2011, during an Occupy movement demonstration at the University of California, Davis. After asking the protesters to leave several times, university police pepper-sprayed a group of student demonstrators as they were seated on a paved path in the campus quad. The video of UC Davis police officer Lt. John Pike pepper-spraying demonstrators spread around the world as a viral video and the photograph became an Internet meme. Officer Alex Lee also pepper-sprayed demonstrators at Pike's direction. John Pike was subsequently fired, despite a recommendation that he face disciplinary action but be kept on the job. As of August 2014, Alex Lee was no longer listed in a state salary-database as working at UC Davis. St John Surridge Pike (27 December 190913 November 1992) was an Anglican bishop in the third quarter of the twentieth century. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin and ordained in 1934, he began his career with a curacy at Taney. After this he was Head of the Southern Church Mission, Ballymacarrett then Rector of St George’s, Belfast. In 1958 he was elevated to the episcopate as Bishop of Gambia and the Rio Pongas. ''Live It Up!'' is a British musical film (US release title: ''Sing and Swing'') that starred David Hemmings and was released in 1963. It was filmed at Pinewood Studios and featured musical acts from numerous contributors, including Gene Vincent, Jennifer Moss (actress), Jenny Moss, The Outlaws (UK band), the Outlaws, Trisha Noble, Patsy Ann Noble, The Saints (1960s band), the Saints and Heinz Burt (most of them being produced by Joe Meek, who wrote the film's theme) among others, most notably Kenny Ball, Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen. John Pike (1613–1688/89) was a founder of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey and a judge and politician of the early colony of New Jersey. Early life and education Pike was born in Wiltshire, England. He came to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1635 with his father, John Pike (1572–1654), who first settled in Newbury. In 1665, acting on the invitation of Governor Philip Carteret, a number of Newbury residents formed a corporation to settle in Woodbridge, named after Rev. John Woodbridge, a Newbury clergyman. The younger John Pike, one of the original nine "associates" of Woodbridge, was granted some in Woodbridge in 1665, more than the common freeholders. John Richard Pyke (born 28 August 1940) is an Australian physicist and a former university law lecturer. In retirement he still writes about Constitutional Law. He was a Queensland Senate candidate at the 2001 and 2010 Australian Federal Election. Family Pyke was born in Melbourne, Victoria, the first son of three children born to educator Lawrence Pyke and his wife Mavis (née Clarke). He is the grandson of the teacher, journalist and author, Lillian Maxwell Pyke (1881–1927).
