John Phillips (American Football)
John Phillips (born June 11, 1987) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Virginia. Early years Phillips attended Bath County High School in Hot Springs, Virginia. In football, he was a two-way player at tight end and defensive end. As a junior, he tallied 25 receptions for 495 yards and 6 touchdowns in 10 games. He was named first-team All-state at tight end and second-team at defensive end. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. Jason Witten
Christopher Jason Witten (born May 6, 1982) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end for 17 seasons, primarily for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Tennessee, and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. 2010 Dallas Cowboys Season
The 2010 Dallas Cowboys season was the franchise's 51st season in the National Football League (NFL), and the second season playing their home games at Cowboys Stadium.
