John Parkinson (botanist)
John Parkinson (1567–1650; buried 6 August 1650) was the last of the great English herbalists and one of the first of the great English Botany, botanists. He was apothecary to James I of England, James I and a founding member of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in December 1617, and was later Royal Botanist to Charles I of England, Charles I. He is known for two monumental works, ''Paradisi in Sole Paradisus Terrestris'' (''Park-in-Sun's Terrestrial Paradise'', 1629), which generally describes the proper cultivation of plants; and ''Theatrum Botanicum'' (''The Botanical Theatre'' or ''Theatre of Plants'', 1640), the most complete and beautifully presented English treatise on plants of its time. John Bryn Williams (born 1977), known as John B, is an English disc jockey and electronic music producer. He is widely recognised for his eccentric clothing and wild hair and his production of several cutting edge drum and bass tracks. John Parkinson (politician)
John Allen Parkinson (15 October 1870 – 7 December 1941) was a British Labour Party politician and former coal miner. He stood for Parliament seven times and was overwhelmingly elected each time. Biography Parkinson was born in Hindley Green, Lancashire, and worked as a coal miner in the Lancashire Coalfield. He entered politics in 1908, when he was elected as a member of the Urban District Council in Abram, He then served many years on the Lancashire County Council. In 1917, he was appointed miners' agent for the Lancashire and Cheshire Miners' Federation. Parkinson was elected to the House of Commons as Member of Parliament (MP) for Wigan at the 1918 general election supported by the Miners' Federation of Great Britain, replacing the Conservative MP Reginald Neville. He served as a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury in Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald's second and third ministries. Sir John Parkinson (10 February 1885 – 5 June 1976) was an English cardiologist known for describing Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome. Biography Parkinson was born in Thornton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, the son of John Parkinson, . He was educated at University College London and studied medicine at the University of Freiburg and the London Hospital, qualifying in 1907. He received his M.D. in 1910, subsequently working as an assistant to Sir James Mackenzie at the London Hospital. During the First World War, he served with the Royal Army Medical Corps, commanding a military cardiology centre in Rouen. After the war he returned to London Hospital, becoming consultant and head of the cardiology department. He also served as consultant to the National Heart Hospital and was a civilian cardiologist for the Royal Air Force from 1931 to 1956. He was knighted by King George VI in 1948. John Parkinson (born 7 November 1944) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Claremont in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) and Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A rover, Parkinson made his debut for Claremont in 1963. He was a premiership player in 1964 and in 1967 won both a Sandover Medal The Sandover Medal is an Australian rules football award, given annually since 1921 to the fairest and best player in the West Australian Football League. The award was donated by Alfred Sandover M.B.E., a prominent Perth hardware merchant and b ... and best and fairest award.
