John Parker Romo
John Parker Romo (born August 24, 1997) is an American football placekicker for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Central Arkansas, Tulsa, and Virginia Tech. He has also played for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL, where he was selected to the All-XFL team following the 2023 XFL season. He is also the all time leader of field goals in the XFL. College career Central Arkansas As a true freshman, Romo served mostly as a kickoff specialist for Central Arkansas; He finished the season with 2,556 yards on 44 kickoffs, with 7 touchbacks in 8 games played, averaging 58.1 yards per kickoff. He did not make his only field goal attempt. Tulsa Romo spent his sophomore season at Tulsa after transferring from Central Arkansas between semesters. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. The Houston Roughnecks were a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Roughnecks competed in the XFL football league. The team was founded by Vince McMahon’s Alpha Entertainment and were an owned-and-operated by Dwayne Johnson’s Alpha Acquico. The Roughnecks played their home games at TDECU Stadium. Don Hageman III (born February 17, 1993) is an American football placekicker who is a free agent. He played college football at San Diego State. College career Mt. San Antonio As a freshman and sophomore at Mt. San Antonio College, Hageman played football, as a placekicker and a punter, and competed in track and field. As a football player, he was named first-team all-conference and recorded a long field goal of 43 yards, making 19 of 20 attempts alongside 54 of 56 PATs. San Diego State As a junior, Hageman transferred to San Diego State, where he started all thirteen games as the placekicker and three also as the kickoff specialist. His 20 field goal makes (from 25 attempts) broke a SDSU school record, and he was a perfect 37/37 on PATs (only three prior SDSU kickers have made more PATs without a miss). The 2022 NFL Draft was the 87th edition of the National Football League's annual draft and was held from April 28–30, 2022, at the Caesars Forum on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada.
