John Morreall
John Morreall (born February 1, 1947 in Rochester, New York) is a Doctor of Philosophy and Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has also taught at Northwestern University, Santa Clara University, Pennsylvania State University, University of South Florida and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Morreall is a founder of the International Society for Humor Studies (ISHS) and was elected its President for 2004–2005. Humour (Commonwealth English) or humor (American English) is the tendency of experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement. The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which taught that the balance of fluids in the human body, known as humours (Latin: ', "body fluid"), controlled human health and emotion.
