John Moody (1727?–1812), original name John Cochran, was an Irish actor. Life The son of a hairdresser named Cochran, he was born in Cork and followed his father's occupation; his own account was that he was born in Stanhope Street, Clare Market, London. To the end of his life he claimed to be a Londoner. Perhaps to avoid being a forced recruit at the time of the Jacobite rising of 1745, he went to Jamaica. Returning to England as Moody, with some property and acting experience, he went on the Norwich circuit. He took the lead in both tragedy and comedy. John David Moody (born 21 February 1983) is a New Zealand badminton player. In 2002 and 2004 he won the Fiji International, in 2005 the Ballarat Eureka International and the Waikato International, and in 2006 the North Harbour International and the Waikato International. He represented New Zealand at the Badminton at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2006 Commonwealth Games and Badminton at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 Summer Olympics. John Moody (May 2, 1868 – February 16, 1958) was an American financial analyst, businessman and investor. He pioneered the rating of bonds and founded Moody's Investors Service. Moody's Manuals are still issued, carrying on the tradition begun by '' Moody's Manual of Railroads and Corporation Securities'' and continued by the annual '' Moody's Analyses of Investments''. He resided in Cranford, New Jersey from 1893 to 1913. Moody and bond rating Moody's was later merged into Dun & Bradstreet, only to again become an independent corporation in October 2000. John Moody (footballer)
John Moody (1 November 1904 – 23 April 1963) was an English footballer. His regular position was as a goalkeeper. Moody was born in Heeley, Sheffield and first played in local football in the Sheffield Amateur League. He was signed by Herbert Chapman's Arsenal in August 1925 but was initially fourth-choice goalkeeper behind Jock Robson, Bill Harper and Dan Lewis. He didn't make his first team debut for nearly two years, it coming in a 3–2 defeat away to Bury on 4 May 1927. Moody went on to keep goal in the final match of 1926-27, a 4-0 North London derby win, and covered for Lewis the following season in four matches while the latter was injured; his final game was a 6–4 defeat at Sheffield United on 7 January 1928. After just six games in three years at Arsenal, Moody moved to Bradford Park Avenue in the 1928 close season. John Moody (governor)
John Moody (ca 1677 – 1736) was an officer in the British army who served as deputy governor of Placentia from 1714 to 1717. In 1703, Moody was named a lieutenant serving with Michael Richards in Newfoundland. When Thomas Lloyd was removed from command of the garrison at St. John's in October 1704, Moody was left in charge. In January 1705, Moody's men at Fort William were attacked by French troops from Placentia; although heavily outnumbered, they were able to hold off the enemy. As a result, in 1707, he was named a lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards. When Britain was given control of Placentia by the Treaty of Utrecht, Moody was promoted to lieutenant-colonel and appointed deputy governor of Placentia; at the time, Placentia fell under the control of the governor of Nova Scotia, Francis Nicholson. John Moody is an American journalist. He served as the executive editor and the executive vice president of Fox News. He was previously the chief executive officer of NewsCore, the former internal wire service of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation (the then-parent company of 20th Century Fox and Fox News), as well as senior vice president, news editorial, for the Fox News Channel prior to that. John Percivale Moody (1906 - 1993) was a British opera and theatre producer, actor and translator. He was the director of the Welsh National Opera for several years. Early career/biography Moody was born in Claygate, Surrey on 6 April 1906 to Percivale Sadlier Moody and Marion Louisa Ley and was educated at Bromsgrove School. Later he worked at a publishing company for two years, then left to become a painter, training at the Royal Academy Schools and working in a studio used previously by Eric Ravilious and Edward Bawden. By 1930 he had co-founded the New Kingston Group and was exhibiting around the country. In 1931 he was teaching Architecture and Perspective at the Wimbledon School of Art.
