John Donnell Miller (December 2, 1840 – March 18, 1898) was an American lawyer, politician, and judge who served as a justice of the Indiana Supreme Court from February 25, 1891 to January 2, 1893.Minde C. John Miller (engineer)
John Miller of Leithen FRSE MICE DL (26 July 1805 – 8 May 1883) was a Scottish civil engineer and Liberal Party politician. Together with Thomas Grainger, he formed the influential engineering firm Grainger and Miller, specialising in railway viaducts. Life Miller was born in Ayr on 26 July 1805, the son of Margaret Caldwell and James Miller, a wright and builder. He attended Ayr Academy and then studied law at the University of Edinburgh going on to be a legal apprentice with A Murdoch Esq, a lawyer in Ayr. His interests then turned from law to engineering. In 1825 he went into partnership with Thomas Grainger. The partnership was responsible for many of Scotland's railway projects. Miller took the lead role in surveying the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway. He designed many viaducts, including the Lugar Viaduct, Almond Valley Viaduct, Cumnock and the Ballochmyle Viaduct, Mauchline. Lieutenant Colonel Sir John Mansel Miller, (4 February 1919 – 17 May 2006) was a British Army officer and equestrian who served as Crown Equerry to Queen Elizabeth II from 1961 to 1987. Early life and education Miller was born in Wheatley, Oxfordshire, the third son of Brigadier General Alfred Douglas Miller and Ella Geraldine (''née'' Fletcher). His mother was a descendant of political writer Andrew Fletcher, and of the Earls of Wemyss and March. John Miller (1839 in Kurhessen, Germany – March 8, 1882) won a Medal of Honor for his service during the American Civil War. He was born Henry Fey. Biography He was born on 1839 in Kurhessen, Germany. Miller enlisted in the Army from Rochester, New York in December 1863. He earned the Medal of Honor for his actions on March 2, 1865 in Waynesboro, Virginia during the Battle of Waynesboro. His citation reads, "capture of flag." He mustered out with his regiment in June 1865. John Miller (1869 – 20 September 1938) was a New Zealand politician and veterinarian. He served as Mayor of Invercargill from 1927 to 1929 and from 1931 until his death in 1938. Biography Miller was born in 1869 in Johnstone, Scotland. He became a veterinarian after graduating from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. He lived in Blairgowrie and Rattray, Blairgowrie until emigrating to Invercargill, New Zealand in 1911. John Classon Miller
John Classon Miller (December 16, 1836 – April 2, 1884) was an Ontario lumber merchant and political figure. He represented Muskoka and Parry Sound in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1875 to 1882 as a Liberal member. He was born in Yonge Township, Leeds County, Upper Canada in 1836 and entered business as a merchant at Seeleys Bay. Miller served as deputy sheriff for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. In 1859, he married Adelaide Augusta Chamberlain. He moved to Toronto and was employed by the Ontario Crown Lands Department from 1868 to 1871, acting as superintendent of woods and forests. He then, with others, purchased timber rights and a sawmill at Parry Sound, forming the Parry Sound Lumber Company. In 1877, he became the owner and general manager for the company, which soon grew to become one of the most important businesses in the region. Born at Mount Rankin near Bathurst to grazier Alexander Miller and Florence Piper, he attended school in Bathurst before working for two years on a station. He subsequently trained as a solicitor and was licensed in 1892. Around 1895 he married Eleanor Frankland, with whom he had a daughter; later, around 1918, he married Sybella Stephen. After his licensing he became a surveyor in Bathurst, and was President of the Advance Bathurst League.
