John Mill (Bundist)
John Mill (1870–1952), also known as Yoysef Shloyme Mil, was one of the founders of the General Jewish Labor Bund. He was a leading activist during its first two decades. The YIVO Encyclopedia of Jews in Eastern Europe Mill fled Russia after a wave of arrests of the Bundist leadership in 1898, living in Geneva. Jewish Labor Bund
The General Jewish Labour Bund in Lithuania, Poland and Russia ( yi, אַלגעמײנער ייִדישער אַרבעטער־בונד אין ליטע, פּױלן און רוסלאַנד , translit=Algemeyner Yidisher Arbeter-bund in Lite, Poyln un Rusland), generally called The Bund ( yi, דער בונד, Der Bund, cognate to german: Bund, ) or the Jewish Labour Bund ( yi, דער יידישער ארבעטער־בונד, Der Yidisher Arbeter-Bund), was a Jewish secularism, secular Jewish Socialism, socialist party initially formed in the Russian Empire and active between 1897 and 1920. In 1917 the Polish part of the Bund, which dated to the times when Poland was a Russian territory, seceded from the Russian Bund and created a new Polish Bund, Polish General Jewish Labour Bund which continued to operate in Poland in the years between the two world wars. Der Yidisher Arbeyter (Vilna)
''Der yidisher arbeyter'' ( yi, דער ייִדישער אַרבײטער, ''The Jewish Worker'') was a Yiddish-language periodical. It began as a Jewish workers journal in Vilna. In December 1896, Vladimir Kossovsky became the editor of the publication. With the sixth issue of the journal, published in March 1899, it became an organ of the General Jewish Labour Bund. The publication became the organ of the Foreign Committee of the Bund, and John Mill became its new editor.
