John Melvin Bryan Sr.
John Melvin Bryan Sr. (August 4, 1886 – May 5, 1940) was a printer and political figure in British Columbia. He represented North Vancouver from 1924 to 1928 and Mackenzie from 1937 to 1940 in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia as a Liberal. He was born in Lucknow, Ontario, the son of James Bryan and Elizabeth Seli, and was educated there. In 1920, Bryan married Ethel Christine White. He was vice-president of the typographical union and also served on the North Vancouver municipal council. Bryan ran unsuccessfully for reelection to the assembly in 1933. North Vancouver was a provincial electoral district in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It first appeared on the hustings in 1916 and at the time of its creation included West Vancouver as well as North Vancouver. Prior to its creation the North Shore had been part of the Vancouver riding.. The North Vancouver riding last appeared in the election of 1963, after which it was partitioned into North Vancouver-Capilano, North Vancouver-Seymour, and West Vancouver-Howe Sound. Lucknow is a community located in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. It is incorporated in the Township of Huron-Kinloss. History Lucknow boasts a strong Scottish heritage that reaches back to the late 1800s where the Lucknow Caledonian Games boomed for about 20 years. Nechako Reservoir
The Nechako Reservoir, sometimes called the Ootsa Lake Reservoir, is a hydroelectric reservoir in British Columbia, Canada that was formed by the Kenney Dam making a diversion of the Nechako River through a 16-km intake tunnel in the Kitimat Ranges of the Coast Mountains to the 890 MW Kemano Generating Station at sea level at Kemano to service the then-new Alcan aluminum smelter at Kitimat. When it was constructed on the Nechako River in 1952, it resulted in the relocation of over 75 families. It was one of the biggest reservoirs built in Canada until the completion of the Columbia Treaty Dams and the W.A.C. Bennett Dam that created Lake Williston. The water level may swing 10 feet between 2790 and 2800 feet.
