John McEldowney (rugby Union)
John Thompson McEldowney (26 October 1947 – 17 June 2012) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A Rugby union positions#Prop, prop, McEldowney represented Taranaki Rugby Football Union, Taranaki at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1976 and 1977. He played 10 matches for the All Blacks including two internationals. New Plymouth ( mi, Ngāmotu) is the major city of the Taranaki region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Rugby Union Positions
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. New Plymouth Boys' High School is a single-sex boys' state secondary school in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.
