John James McDonald (21 July 1869 – 19 June 1934), Australian politician, was a Member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1911 to 1914. Born in East Ballarat, Victoria, East Ballarat, Victoria (Australia), Victoria on 21 July 1869, John McDonald was the son of Squash (drink), cordial manufacturer Michael McDonald. He was educated at Parade College, Christian Brothers College in East Melbourne, Victoria, East Melbourne, then spent three years raising stock for his father. In 1895 he emigrated to Western Australia, where he spent the next twelve years as a Prospecting, prospector. John Albert McDonald (November 24, 1921 – March 13, 1990) was a professional ice hockey player who played 43 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers during the 1943–44 season. Career McDonald was born November 24, 1921 in Swan River, Manitoba. Known as Jack, he had a playing height of 6'1" and 215 lbs, which was big for the era. A high-scoring left winger, he captained the Portage Terriers during the 1939–40 and 1941–42 seasons that won the Memorial Cup. The 1942-43 season was spent with the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Senior Hockey League. McDonald joined the New York Rangers for the 1943–44 season, one of several wartime additions. John McDonald AM is an Australian former rugby league footballer, coach and administrator. A tall three-quarter back, he played club football in Toowoomba, representing Queensland ten times and also gaining selection for the Australian test team. In 1969 McDonald moved south, playing in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership with the Manly-Warringah club. After playing for his adopted state, he toured New Zealand as Australian vice-captain. He went on to captain Manly from the flank in the club's grand final loss to Souths in the 1970 NSWRFL season. McDonald returned to Queensland after three seasons with the Sea Eagles to captain-coach Toowoomba and was elected president of the club after his retirement. He also coached Queensland in the late 1970s and was coach of the Maroons' first State of Origin team in 1980.
