John MacLeod (rugby Union)
John MacLeod (born 20 February 1973) is a former rugby union player Born in Scotland, he played for the professional Glasgow provincial side now called Glasgow Warriors - in the 1996-97 season; the first season of professionalism in Scottish rugby union. MacLeod played at the Fly-half position. MacLeod played at amateur level for Glasgow High Kelvinside; and was called up for the amateur Glasgow District side only once before the province turned professional. In the 1995-96 season he was picked to play for Glasgow District against North & Midlands. Glasgow lost this game 13-21 and thus they did not qualify for the 1996-97 season's Scottish Heineken Cup places. The GHK fly-half was to play in three of Glasgow's five games in the European Conference of 1996-97 season, now the European Challenge Cup. He replaced Calum MacGregor who was dropped. Glasgow High Kelvinside
Glasgow High Kelvinside , often abbreviated to GHK, is an amateur rugby union club in Glasgow, Scotland. They currently play in Scottish National League Division One. History Glasgow High Kelvinside was formed in 1982 by the merger of Kelvinside Academy and High School of Glasgow rugby clubs; Kelvinside Academicals and Glasgow HSFP. Both Glasgow High FP and Kelvinside Accies were struggling clubs at the time: Glasgow High in the Third Division; Kelvinside Academicals in the Fifth Division. Glasgow Academicals RFC
The Glasgow Academical Football Club is the third oldest rugby football club in Scotland. The club was also a founder member of the Scottish Football Union (the future SRU) in 1873. History Glasgow Hawks In 1997 the decision was made to combine the first XV's of Glasgow Academicals and close rivals Glasgow High Kelvinside (themselves a fairly new club having been formed when the struggling Glasgow High FP and Kelvinside Academicals clubs combined in 1982), something that was predicted would happen only after "hell freezes over". The combined team was named the Glasgow Hawks. Andrew Garry
Andrew Garry (born 30 September 1966) is a former Scottish rugby union player. He played for the amateur Glasgow District side and after professionalism played for Glasgow Rugby, now named the Glasgow Warriors. He played at Fly-half but also played at Centre and Full Back. He is currently a Physical Education teacher at Dunfermline High School, having worked there since 1993 following a one year post as a PE teacher at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh. His school Kirkintilloch High School at the time did not play rugby so Garry instead played for Lenzie RFC. His form got him selected for the SRU's President's XV; a side made up of State school pupils. In 1985 he was playing for Glasgow Academicals at Centre. and by 1987 he was playing Full Back and Centre for the club. In 1988 Garry played for the Scotland Under 18 side. Hughenden Stadium
Hughenden is a multi-sports venue in the Hyndland area of Glasgow, Scotland. It has been the home since 1924 of Hillhead Sports Club, a private members' club catering for cricket, rugby union and tennis. Hughenden is best known as a rugby venue and is the home ground of Hillhead Jordanhill RFC. It was also used as the home ground of the professional Glasgow Rugby team from 1996 to 2005 and again from 2006 to 2007. The main rugby ground has a capacity of 6,000.
