John Low (bishop)

''Handbook of British Chronology'' p. 296 (c. 1382–1467) was a medieval Bishop of St Asaph and then Bishop of Rochester, in Wales and England respectively. He was an Augustinian monk and opponent of the Lollard movement. He was born in Worcestershire, descended from Henry and Isabella Lowe of Lindridge, Worcestershire, who lived in the reign of King Richard II. He became an Augustinian hermit, and studied at Droitwich. He studied at Lincoln where he was ordained a deacon on 20 December 1403. He was created a Doctor at Oxford before coming to the Augustine House in London in 1420. He was provincial of England for the Augustinian order from 1427 to 1433. About 1432 he was confessor to King Henry VI. He was created Bishop of St. Asaph, Wales, by a papal bull dated 17 August 1433, being consecrated on 1 November 1433. John Low (East India Company Officer)
General Sir John Low (13 December 1788 – 10 January 1880) was a Scottish officer army officer and political administrator in the service of the British East India Company. Early life Born at Clatto House, near Cupar in Fife, the eldest son of Captain Robert Low of Clatto, and his wife (the daughter of Dr. Robert Malcolm). He was educated at St. Andrews University, attending the sessions of 1802–3 (Register), and in 1804 obtained a Madras cadetship on the nomination of John Hudleston. Military career On 17 July 1805 Low was commissioned as a lieutenant in the 1st Madras Native Infantry. For the part taken by six of its companies in Vellore mutiny the regiment was disbanded in January 1807; Low became an officer in the reformed 24th Madras Infantry. In 1816 the 24th was renumbered as the 1st Madras Infantry, in recognition of its conduct at the Battle of Sitabuldi. John Low (charity Executive)
Sir John Menzies Low, CBE, CEng, FRSA (born 1 July 1953) is an international civil society leader, with a commercial background in science, technology and engineering.  From 2007 to 2020, he was group chief executive of the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). He was previously the chief executive of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). Since 2022, John has been Chair of JTL, the leading training provider for the Building Services Engineering sector.
