John Arthur Love (November 29, 1916 – January 21, 2002) was an American attorney and Republican politician who served as the 36th Governor of the State of Colorado from 1963 to 1973. Early life and education John Arthur Love was born on a farm near Gibson City, Illinois, on November 29, 1916. At age five, John Love moved with his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Love received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver in 1938 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Denver School of Law in 1941. Love served as a U.S. Navy pilot in World War II for which he was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Love started a law practice in Colorado Springs after the war. John Russell Love (January 9, 1895 – February 9, 1981) was a politician from Alberta, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1921 to 1935 as a member of the United Farmers caucus in government. He served as a cabinet minister in the government of Richard Reid from 1934 to 1935. Love was born January 9, 1895, in Toronto, Ontario, to Harry Wilbert Love and Ada Breckon. He married Catherine Isabelle McCrimmon on November 11, 1925. Political career Love ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1921 general election under the United Farmers banner. He won a landslide in the three-way race over incumbent George Hudson to pick up the seat for his party. Love ran for a second term in office in the 1926 Alberta general election. John Love (17?? – August 17, 1822) was a nineteenth-century politician and lawyer from Virginia. Biography Growing up, Love pursued an academic course and studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1801 and commencing practice in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1805 to 1807 and from there was elected a Democratic-Republican to the United States House of Representatives in 1806, serving from 1807 to 1811. There, he served as chairman of the Committee on the District of Columbia from 1809 to 1811. Afterwards, he was a member of the Virginia State Senate from 1816 to 1820 and resumed practicing law. John Thomson Love DFC (18 March 1924 – 14 June 2007) was a Scottish football player and manager. He scored 47 goals in 146 league games in the Scottish and English leagues, playing for Leith Athletic, Albion Rovers, Nottingham Forest, and Walsall. He later managed Llanelli, Walsall, and Wrexham. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service during World War II. Football career Love, "a hard inside forward with a strong shot", won a Distinguished Flying Cross after being wounded by shrapnel whilst serving in the Royal Air Force in 1944. John Maxwell Lineham Love (7 December 1924 – 25 April 2005) was a Rhodesian racing driver. He participated in 10 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 29 December 1962. John Love D.D. (1757–1825) was a Church of Scotland minister, known for his early involvement with the London Missionary Society. Life Born at Paisley, Renfrewshire on 4 June 1757, he was educated at Paisley grammar school, and then at Glasgow University, where he gained a bursary. He was licensed as a preacher of the church of Scotland by the presbytery of Paisley on 24 December 1778. After being assistant successively at Rutherglen and Greenock, Love was ordained minister of the presbyterian congregation at Crispin Street, Spitalfields, London, on 22 August 1788.
