John Leonard (songwriter)
John Leonard was a Tyneside radical poet and songwriter of the early 19th century. His only dialect song was "Winlaton Hopping". Life It is thought that John Leonard was born in Gateshead, County Durham, but very little is known about him, or his life. His father, George, was a gardener and was a described as "a man of some means" owning some property in either Jackson’s Chare or more likely Leonard’s Court (both long since demolished), near Gateshead High Street. John Leonard was apprenticed as a joiner, but the date of birth and date and place of death are unknown. As there are no records of his burial in the Gateshead (St. Mary’s ) register between 1813 and 1852, it is assumed he died elsewhere. A note on one of his manuscripts states that it was partly written during a three months' imprisonment. There is no further record of the offence, place or time, but as he was a radical, and was in favour of Irish Nationalism, writing a poem in praise of Charles James Fox and ...

Jack Leonard (hurler)
John Leonard (15 November 1873 – 21 March 1938) was an Irish hurler who played with club side Redmonds and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career Born in Ballyphehane, Cork, Leonard first played hurling as a member of the Redmonds club. He was a member of the club's senior team when they won back-to-back County Senior Championships in 1900 and 1901. These victories earned Leonard a call-up to the Cork senior hurling team for the 1901 Munster Championship. After being appointed captaincy of the team, he was replaced midway through the championship but won a Munster Championship medal after a win over Clare. Leonard later lined out in Cork's defeat by London in the 1901 All-Ireland final. John Gerard Leonard (born August 7, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey player for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Leonard was selected 182nd overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Leonard was originally first eligible to be drafted in 2016, but was not selected while playing for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League. After two years with the Gamblers, Leonard joined the University of Massachusetts Amherst ("UMass"), playing for their ice hockey team, the UMass Minutemen while studying Communications and Sport Management. John Denis Leonard, Baron Leonard, OBE (19 October 1909 – 17 July 1983) was a British Labour Party politician. Leonard was born in Manorhamilton, Ireland, the son of an Irish journalist. He emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1939, where he set up an engineering firm in Cardiff. He was elected to the Cardiff City Council in 1970, and to the South Glamorgan County Council in 1974, serving as its chairman between 1976 and 1977. He was appointed an OBE in 1976. Giovanni Leonardi (1541 – 9 October 1609) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and the founder of the Clerks Regular of the Mother of God of Lucca. Biography He was the youngest of seven children born to middle-class parents in Diecimo (now within the ''comune'' of Borgo a Mozzano) in the Republic of Lucca. From childhood, he sought solitude and wished to dedicate himself to prayer and meditation. At age 17, he began his ten-year study to become a certified pharmacist's assistant in Lucca. Afterward, he studied for the priesthood and was ordained in 1572, as a member of the now defunct Apostolic Clerics of St. Jerome.
