John Kuo Wei Tchen
John Kuo Wei Tchen, also known as Jack, is a historian of Chinese American history and the Inaugural Clement A. Price Chair in Public History and Humanities at Rutgers University. Biography Tchen received his B.A. at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1973. He did his M.A. at New York University in 1987 and finished his Ph.D. at NYU in 1992. He was the founding director of the A/P/A Studies Program and Institute at New York University. In 1979-1980, Tchen co-founded the Museum of Chinese in America and continues to serve as its senior advisor. In 2018, Tchen was named the Inaugural Clement A. Chinese Americans
Chinese Americans are Americans of Han Chinese ancestry. Chinese Americans constitute a subgroup of East Asian Americans which also constitute a subgroup of Asian Americans. 9-Man (documentary)
''9-Man'' is a 2014 American documentary film about the sport 9-man played in Chinatowns in the U.S. and Canada. ''The New York Times'' called it "an absorbing documentary." The film, which had its world premiere at IFFBoston on April 27, 2014, won six film festival awards and was broadcast on the PBS World Channel series ''America ReFramed'' on May 5, 2015 and January 24, 2017. The film, which follows the all-male sport of 9-man, was produced by a largely female crew, led by first-time director Ursula Liang and editor Michelle Chang.
