John Kinsella (hurler)
John Kinsella (born 3 September 1947) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right wing-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Kinsella first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 team. He made his senior debut during the 1967 championship. Kinsella went on to enjoy a successful career and won two All-Ireland medals and two Leinster medals. Bennettsbridge () is a village in County Kilkenny in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is situated on the River Nore south of Kilkenny city, in the centre of the county. Bennettsbridge is a census town, and has population of 745 as of the 2016 census. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root.
