John King (footballer, Born 1933)
John King (29 November 1933 – 1982) was a Welsh association football, footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Career Born in Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Ferndale, King spent his entire professional career with Swansea City A.F.C., Swansea City, making 368 appearances in the English Football League between 1950 and 1964. After leaving Swansea, King spent time in non-league football with Bath City F.C., Bath City, before moving to Australia to play for Sydney Prague. He also earned one international cap for Wales national football team, Wales in 1954. King died in Australia in December 1982. Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Ferndale ( cy, Glynrhedynog) is a town and community located in the Rhondda Valley in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Neighbouring villages are Blaenllechau, Maerdy and Tylorstown. Ferndale was industrialised in the mid-19th century. The first coal mine shaft was sunk in 1857 and was the first community to be intensively industrialised in the Rhondda Valley. History In Welsh, Ferndale is known as Glynrhedynog, the name of one of the old farms on which the town is built. In its infancy Glynrhedynog was also known as Trerhondda after the name of the first large chapel to be built in the town.
