John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy
John Kennedy, PC, 2nd Lord Kennedy (12 October 1454 – 29 December 1508) was a Scottish lord, the son of Gilbert Kennedy, 1st Lord Kennedy and Catherine Maxwell. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Kennedy in 1489 after the death of his father. He was a Commissioner to treat with the English in 1484. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in Scotland to King James III of Scotland. Privy Counsellor
The Privy Council (PC), officially His Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, is a formal body of advisers to the sovereign of the United Kingdom. Its membership mainly comprises senior politicians who are current or former members of either the House of Commons or the House of Lords. Gilbert Kennedy of Dunure, 1st Lord Kennedy (22 February 1405 – 27 March 1489) was a Scottish lord, a son of Sir James Kennedy, Younger of Dunure, and Lady Mary Stewart, daughter of Robert III, King of the Scots. King James III
James III (10 July 1451/May 1452 – 11 June 1488) was King of Scots from 1460 until his death at the Battle of Sauchieburn in 1488. He inherited the throne as a child following the death of his father, King James II, at the siege of Roxburgh Castle. James III's reign began with a minority that lasted almost a decade, during which Scotland was governed by a series of regents and factions who struggled for possession of the young king, before his personal rule began in 1469. Alexander Montgomerie, 1st Lord Montgomerie (died c. 1470) was a Scottish nobleman and diplomat. Life He was the eldest son of Sir John Montgomerie of Ardrossan (d. before 22 November 1429), by his wife Agnes, daughter of John of Islay, Lord of the Isles. In 1425 he was chosen a member of the privy council of James I. He succeeded his father some time before 22 November 1429, and in August 1430 he was, jointly with his brother-in-law, Sir Robert Cunningham of Kilmaurs, appointed governor of Cantyre and Knapdale. On 30 November 1436 Montgomerie was appointed a commissioner to conclude a treaty with England, and he was one of the conservators of the truce concluded on 31 March for nine years. With the other Scottish commissioners he received the present of a silver cup from Henry VI of England. David Kennedy, 3rd Lord Kennedy and 1st Earl of Cassilis (After 1463 – 9 September 1513) was a Scottish peer, the son of John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy. Andrew Stewart, 1st Lord Avondale (died 9 September 1513) was a Scottish nobleman. He was the son of Alexander Stewart, from whom he inherited the lands of Avondale. Alexander had inherited them from his uncle Lord Avondale, who had in turn received them following their forfeiture by the last Earl of Douglas and Avondale in 1455. Janet Kennedy (c. 1480 – c. 1545), was a Scottish noble and the mistress of King James IV of Scotland. Life She was the eldest daughter of John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy and Lady Elizabeth Gordon. Through her father, she was a great-great-granddaughter of King Robert III wheres her mother was the daughter of Alexander Gordon, 1st Earl of Huntly. She is believed to have first been married to Alexander Gordon of Lochinvar around 1493. They may have had a daughter.
