. It was built about 1865, and is a one-story, board-and-batten "coastal cottage". It features a broad gable roof and full-facade engaged front porch. It was moved to the present site in 1928–1929, and realigned in 1932. The town of Clarkton is named for John Hector Clark (1821–1898). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Clarkton is a town in Bladen County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 837 at the 2010 census. History The Brown Marsh Presbyterian Church, John Hector Clark House, and Clarkton Depot are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography Clarkton is located at (34.489425, -78.656804), at the crossroads of North Carolina Highway 211 and U.S. Route 701, south of Elizabethtown and the Cape Fear River. The closest town to Clarkton is Bladenboro, to the west on NC 211. Another important transit route that enters Clarkton is the CSX Railroad, that parallels North and South Railroad Streets through the town. The town lies within the Carolina Border Belt, a regional network of tobacco markets and warehouses along both sides of the North Carolina-South Carolina border.
