John Hayes (soccer)
John Hayes is a retired American soccer forward who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Hayes attended St. Louis University Saint Louis University (SLU) is a private Jesuit research university with campuses in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, and Madrid, Spain. Founded in 1818 by Louis William Valentine DuBourg, it is the oldest university west of the Mississip ..., where he played soccer from 1978 to 1981. He was a 1980 Honorable Mention and 1981 First Team All American. In 2009, he was selected to the St. Louis University Men's Soccer Half-Century Team. On October 26, 1981, the St. Louis Steamers selected Hayes with the first pick of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft. He played two seasons in St. Louis before finishing his career with one season with the Kansas City Comets. Saint Louis Billikens Men's Soccer
The Saint Louis Billikens men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Saint Louis University. The Saint Louis Billikens compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I. Soccer is the main fall sport at SLU, which has not sponsored football since 1949. Noted for their dominance in men's collegiate soccer during the late 1950s through the mid-1970s, the Billikens have won 10 NCAA Men's Soccer Championships, the most of any men's college soccer program in Division 1. Despite this, the Billikens have not appeared in an NCAA national championship final since 1974, and have appeared in the college cup twice since then: 1991 and 1997. The Misls (derived from an Arabic word مِثْل meaning 'equal') were the twelve sovereign states of the Sikh Confederacy, which rose during the 18th century in the Punjab region in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent and is cited as one of the causes of the weakening of the Mughal Empire prior to Nader Shah's invasion of India in 1738–1740.
