John Hannibal George
John Hannibal George (30 May 1901 – 22 May 1996) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. George was born in 1901 at Roxburgh. After his education at Otago Boys' High School, he became a fruit grower. He won the Central Otago electorate in 1954 after William Bodkin retired. The electorate was renamed to Otago Central in 1957, and George held it to 1969, when he retired. He was Chairman of Committees from 1967 to 1969. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to politics in the 1970 New Year Honours The New Year Honours 1970 were appointments in many of the Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries. Otago Central
Otago Central or Central Otago was a parliamentary electorate in the Otago region of New Zealand, from 1911 to 1919 as ''Otago Central''; from 1928 to 1957 as ''Central Otago''; and from 1957 to 1978 as ''Otago Central''. It was replaced by the Otago electorate. The electorate was represented by six Members of Parliament. Population centres In the 1911 electoral redistribution, the North Island gained a further seat from the South Island due to faster population growth. Murray Rose (politician)
John Murray Rose (14 December 1939 – 5 August 2021) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. Biography Rose was born in Dunedin in 1939. He received his education at Waitahuna Primary and John McGlashan College. Afterwards, he was a farmer in Waitahuna in the Clutha District, some from Lawrence. He held roles with Federated Farmers, the Presbyterian Church, Lions Clubs International, and the Lawrence Club. Rose married Christine Mary Fulton, the daughter of Bruce I. Fulton, on 22 October 1966. They had five daughters. He won the Otago Central electorate in after the retirement of John Hannibal George, but was defeated by Labour's Ian Quigley in . Sir Roy Emile Jack (12 January 1914 – 24 December 1977) was a New Zealand politician of the New Zealand National Party, National Party. He was a Cabinet of New Zealand, cabinet minister and Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Biography Early life and career Jack was born in New Plymouth in 1914. He was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and graduated from the Victoria University of Wellington, Victoria University with an LLB. Jack was a Judge's Associate from 1935-1938, before enlisting with the Royal New Zealand Air Force during World War Two.
