''Survivors'' is a British post-apocalyptic fiction drama television series created by Terry Nation and produced by Terence Dudley at the BBC, that broadcast from 1975 to 1977. It concerns the plight of a group of people who have survived an apocalyptic plague pandemic, which was accidentally released by a Chinese scientist and quickly spread across the world via air travel. Referred to as "The Death", the plague kills approximately 4,999 out of every 5,000 human beings on the planet within a matter of weeks of being released. Production History The programme ran for three series and 38 episodes (series 1 and 2 comprised 13 episodes each, the third series just 12; budget cuts and technical problems reduced the planned last double episode to a single, as some scenes were lost during shooting). ''Z-Cars'' or ''Z Cars'' (pronounced "zed cars") is a British television police procedural series centred on the work of mobile uniformed police in the fictional town of Newtown, based on Kirkby, near Liverpool. Produced by the BBC, it debuted in January 1962 and ran until September 1978. The series differed sharply from earlier police procedurals. First broadcast on BBC One in 1972 it starred Christopher Cazenove and followed the story of a British Army regiment from the view of two families. ''The Regiment'' was based on a single play broadcast in 1970 as part of the ''BBC Drama Playhouse'' series. The series followed the Cotswold Regiment from 1895 to 1904, and in particular the Gaunt and Bright families. The first series was broadcast in 1972 and related to the regiment's time in South Africa, fighting in the Boer War, while the second series in 1973 followed the regiment on a posting to British India. ''Oil Strike North'' is a BBC television drama series produced in 1975. The series was created and produced by Gerard Glaister and dealt with life on Nelson One, a North Sea oil rig owned by the fictional company Triumph Oil. Eschewing the corporate power struggles of '' Mogul / The Troubleshooters'' and concentrating on more personal storylines, ''Oil Strike North'' was essentially a character study of how workers faced life on the rig and the impact it had on the lives of their families and loved ones. ''Oil Strike North'' lasted for one series of thirteen episodes. Gerard Glaister later moved on to produce the Second World War resistance drama '' Secret Army'', the air freight series ''Buccaneer'' and then onto the boating soap serial ''Howards' Way''. ''All Creatures Great and Small'' is a British television series made by the BBC and based on the books of the British veterinary surgeon Alf Wight, who wrote under the pseudonym James Herriot. The title aired over seven series, totalling 90 episodes, from 1978 to 1990. A remake premiered in 2020. ''Shada'' is a story from the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Written by the series' script editor Douglas Adams, it was intended as the final serial of the 1979–80 season (season 17) but was never originally completed, owing to strike action at the BBC during studio recording. Entering production as a six-part story (6 x 25-minute episodes) in 1979, plans were later revised for the story to be broadcast as a four-part story (4 x 25-minute episodes) in 1980. Ultimately however, the story would never be completed in either format. The BBC released a completed version of ''Shada'' in 2017, with missing dialogue newly recorded by the original cast, using the same audio equipment employed in the initial shoot, and animated by the team that undertook the reconstruction of the 1966 serial ''The Power of the Daleks''.
