John H. Rountree
John Hawkins Rountree (March 24, 1805June 27, 1890) was an American farmer, businessman, politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was the founder of Platteville, Wisconsin, and was instrumental in the early development of that village. He was also one of the founders of the Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company, and remained a director in the company until his death. In politics, he represented Grant County for five years in the Wisconsin Legislature, and was a delegate to Wisconsin's 2nd constitutional convention in 1847. Wisconsin's 16th State Senate District
The 16th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district comprises much of eastern Dane County. It contains the east side of Wisconsin's capital city, Madison, as well as the cities of Monona and Sun Prairie, and the northern half of the city of Fitchburg. Michigan Territory Militia
The Michigan Territory Militia was the predecessor to the Michigan Army National Guard and existed from 1805-1837 as an entity concurrent with Michigan Territory's existence in the United States. Colonial and pre-Territorial militias In the French colonial period, a proposal was made in 1708 to organize the first Michigan militia at Fort Detroit which is referenced in the Cadillac Papers. Following the defeat of the French regime, Michigan militias were also organized during British colonial occupation prior to the arrival of the Americans. Lead is a chemical element with the symbol Pb (from the Latin ) and atomic number 82. It is a heavy metal that is denser than most common materials.
