John H. Kerr III
John Hosea Kerr III (February 28, 1936 – May 24, 2015) was a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing constituents in Greene, Lenoir and Wayne counties. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Kerr grew up in Warrenton, North Carolina. He received his bachelor's degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his law degree from University of North Carolina School of Law. An attorney from Goldsboro, North Carolina, Kerr served eight terms in the state Senate. Previously, he served three terms in the state House. In 2007, Kerr announced that he would not seek re-election in 2008. He was succeeded in office by Donald G. Davis. Kerr died in 2015. Kerr's grandfather, John H. North Carolina Senate
The North Carolina Senate is the upper chamber of the North Carolina General Assembly, which along with the North Carolina House of Representatives—the lower chamber—comprises the state legislature of North Carolina. The term of office for each senator is only two years. The Senate's prerogatives and powers are similar to those of the other house, the House of Representatives. Douglas E. Berger is an American attorney, former prosecutor and politician who served as a member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 7th Senate district for four terms, starting in 2005. Luther Henry Jordan, Jr. (1 June 1950 – 23 April 2002) was a Democratic politician from North Carolina and a senior member of the North Carolina General Assembly. Jordan was born in New York City and moved to North Carolina as a child. He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1969 and received training in mortuary science at Gupton Jones College. He ran a funeral home business in Wilmington, North Carolina and served on the Wilmington City Council for 15 years. Warrenton is a town in, and the county seat of, Warren County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 862 at the 2010 census.
