John Greenstock
John Wilfrid Greenstock (15 May 1905 – 6 February 1992) was an English first-class cricketer who played in 46 matches in the 1920s, the bulk of these for Oxford University and Worcestershire. Greenstock made his first-class debut for Worcestershire against Northamptonshire at Worcester in August 1924, but was not called upon to bowl a single ball. He played one further match that summer, against Somerset, and this time claimed 4-69 including the wicket of Jack White, but Worcestershire were nevertheless heavily defeated. The University Parks
The Oxford University Parks, commonly referred to locally as the University Parks, or just The Parks, is a large parkland area slightly northeast of the city centre in Oxford, England. The park is bounded to the east by the River Cherwell, though a small plot of land called Mesopotamia sits between the upper and lower levels of the river. William Greenstock
William Greenstock (15 January 1865 – 13 November 1944) was a Cape Colony-born English first-class cricketer. Born in Keiskammahoek, Cape Colony he nevertheless played all his cricket in England. A right-handed batsman and occasional off-spinner, Greenstock appeared only seven times in first-class cricket, but these matches spanned a period of well over thirty years. Educated at Fettes College he won an exhibition to St John's College, Cambridge in 1884 and made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Yorkshire on 3 June 1886. Cambridge won the game by 26 runs, but Greenstock's personal contribution was forgettable as he made only 4 * and 6. He appeared twice more for the university the following season, making what was to prove his career-best innings of 49 against CI Thornton's XI. Kent County Cricket Club
Kent County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Kent. A club representing the county was first founded in 1842 but Kent teams have played top-class cricket since the early 18th century, and the club has always held first-class status. The current Kent County Cricket Club was formed on 6 December 1870 following the merger of two representative teams. Fostershire
‘Fostershire’ was a name jocularly applied to Worcestershire County Cricket Club in the early part of the 20th century, shortly after the county had achieved first-class status and admission into the English County Championship (in 1899). The name came from the fact that seven brothers from the Foster family played for Worcestershire during this period, three of whom captained the club at some point. William Harbison
Air Vice Marshal William "Paddy" Harbison, (11 April 1922 – 25 December 2018), was a British Royal Air Force (RAF) fighter pilot who served during the Second World War and the Korean War. He held senior command roles in the RAF and was the author of a noted technical report that evaluated the performance and tactics of jet combat during the Korean War. Early years William Harbison was born in the Irish Free State (now the Republic of Ireland), but grew up in Northern Ireland and educated at Ballymena Academy. Cambridge University Cricket Club
Cambridge University Cricket Club, first recorded in 1817, is the representative cricket club for students of the University of Cambridge. Depending on the circumstances of each individual match, the club has always been recognised as holding first-class status. The university played List A cricket in 1972 and 1974 only. It has not played top-level Twenty20 cricket. With some 1,200 members, home matches are played at Fenner's. The club has three men's teams (Blues, Crusaders and the Colleges XI) and one women's team which altogether play nearly 100 days of cricket each season.
