John Gorman (born 4 January 1936), is an English comedian, vocalist and comedy musician. The Scaffold After grammar school, Gorman worked as a Telecommunications Engineer. He was the founder of the comedy music group The Scaffold, best known for their 1968 hit single ''Lily the Pink'', and its successor the band Grimms – the 'G' in Gorman providing the 'G' in Grimms. He also made a comedy musical album for DJM Records, ''Go Man Gorman''. During the 1970s he made brief film appearances in Frankie Howerd's medieval set farce ''Up the Chastity Belt'' (1971), ''Melody'' (1971), Terry Gilliam's ''Jabberwocky'' (1977), where he is credited as 'second peasant', and ''The Music Machine'' (1979) as a newsagent. John Gorman (politician)
Sir John Reginald Gorman CVO, CBE, MC, DL (1 February 1923 – 26 May 2014) was an Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) politician who served as a Deputy Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly from 2000 to 2002, and was a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for North Down from 1998 to 2003. He was a Catholic Unionist. Early life He was born at Mullaghmore House, Omagh in 1923 and educated at Rockport School in Holywood Co Down, Loreto Convent Grammar School (Omagh), Portora Royal School, Glasgow University and Harvard Business School. World War II When the Second World War broke out in September 1939, Gorman was attending the Imperial Service College in Windsor. John Gorman (footballer)
John Gorman (born 16 August 1949) is a Scottish former football player and coach. Playing career Gorman began his career at Celtic, but only played one game, a Scottish League Cup match in 1968. He was released and signed for Carlisle United and was almost ever present in their one season in the old First Division. He signed for Tottenham Hotspur in 1976 before injury as a result of a tackle by Jimmy Case lost him his place. The injury caused him to miss the final part of Spurs' unsuccessful relegation fight in 1977, and all of their promotion season of 1977–78. In 1979, he moved to the United States where he signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the NASL. He remained with Tampa Bay for four seasons and was a 1979 Second Team, 1980 Honorable Mention and 1981 First Team All Star. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. John Gorman is a radio personality, executive, and author from Cleveland, Ohio. In 2007, Gorman published his first book, ''The Buzzard: Inside The Glory Days of WMMS and Cleveland Rock Radio''. Rory John McCaughan Gorman (born 26 October 1992) is a footballer who plays as a winger. He started his career with Manchester City, but was soon signed by Manchester United. After six years there, he was released and allowed to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2009. Gorman made just one appearance for Wolves before spending time on loan with Plymouth Argyle, Macclesfield Town and Cambridge United, followed by a permanent move to Leyton Orient where he remained for a season. John Patrick Gorman (August 8, 1876 – July 3, 1963) was a Canadian politician. He represented the Electoral district (Canada), electoral district of Antigonish (provincial electoral district), Antigonish in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1942 to 1949. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Born in 1876 at East Tracadie, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, Gorman was a commercial traveler. He was educated at La Salle Academy, Halifax. Gorman married Margaret MacKinnon in 1907. Gorman entered provincial politics in 1942, winning a byelection in the Antigonish riding following the death of John A. MacIsaac. Gorman was re-elected in the 1945 Nova Scotia general election, 1945 election. He did not reoffer in the 1949 Nova Scotia general election, 1949 election. Gorman died at Antigonish on July 3, 1963.
