John Francis William, 6th Count De Salis-Soglio
John Francis William de Salis, 6th Count de Salis (*Neuchatel 25 August 1825 – †Hillingdon 7 August 1871) was a Count de Salis-Soglio, a British diplomat, and coin connoisseur. Life He was the eldest son of Count Peter John de Salis by his second wife Cecile Henrietta Marguerite, daughter of David Bourgeoise of Neuchâtel. After some education in London (Harrow) he was an Attaché in Turin (October 1845-December 1849). Lived at Hillingdon. He was a JP for Middlesex. In 1860 he was commissioned into the 24th Middlesex Volunteer Rifle Corps. He was promoted Lieutenant later that year and Captain in 1861. A renowned numismatist, he is recorded on a large board as one of the British Museum's major benefactors. John Warren, 3rd Baron De Tabley was a first cousin, and William Fane De Salis an uncle. Charles La Trobe
Charles la Trobe, CB (20 March 18014 December 1875), commonly Latrobe, was appointed in 1839 superintendent of the Port Phillip District of New South Wales and, after the establishment in 1851 of the colony of Victoria (now a state of Australia), he became its first lieutenant-governor. La Trobe was a strong supporter of religious, cultural and educational institutions. Rhoscolyn
Rhoscolyn is a village and Community (Wales), community located on Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales. It is just over five miles south of Holyhead and is the most southerly settlement on the island. The name Rhoscolyn is said to mean "The Moor" ''(Rhos)'' of The Column ''(colyn)'', referring to a pillar which the Ancient Rome, Romans put up to mark the edge of their territories. William Hare, 1st Earl Of Listowel
William Hare, 1st Earl of Listowel (September 1751 – 13 July 1837), known as Lord Ennismore from 1800 to 1816 and as the Viscount Ennismore and Listowel from 1816 to 1822, was an Irish peer and Member of Parliament. Life He was the second son of Richard Hare of Ennismore, County Kerry, and Catherine (also known as Margaret) daughter of Samuel Maylor. An older brother, John, died unmarried in 1774. In 1796, Hare was elected to the Irish House of Commons for Cork City, a seat he held only until 1797, and then represented Athy from 1798 until the Act of Union in 1801. Maienfeld
Maienfeld ( rm, Maiavilla) is a municipality in the Landquart Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is a tourist destination in the Alps, both because of the local wine and because it was the setting of the story ''Heidi''. History Maienfeld lies along a key route through the Rhine Valley in the Alps. Prehistoric Bronze work and a pre-Roman cellar have been found in the city and on St. Luzisteig hill. Johann Gaudenz Gubert Graf (and Freiherr) von Salis-Seewis (26 December 1762 – 29 January 1834) was a Switzerland, Swiss poet, writer, politician and librettist.
