John Fourie
Jonathan Adriaan Fourie (born 23 August 1939) is a South African professional golfer. Fourie was born in Johannesburg. He turned professional in 1970 and spent his career playing mainly on the Southern Africa Tour and the European Tour. He won ten times on the Southern Africa Tour, including one win as an amateur, and led the Order of Merit in 1973/74. In Europe he won the 1977 Callers of Newcastle tournament and twice finished in the top twenty on the European Tour Order of Merit. He joined the European Seniors Tour in its 1992 debut season, and won the Senior British Open and the Belfast Telegraph Irish Senior Masters on his way to winning that tour's order of merit. He continued to play on the seniors tour into his mid sixties. South African Masters
The South African Masters was one of the most prestigious golf tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. It was last played in 2011. Before its discontinuation, it had a prize fund of 1.2 million rand and was held at the Wild Coast Sun Country Club on the KwaZulu-Natal border, South Africa. The tournament had its roots in the South African Professional Match Play Championship, the running of which was taken over by the PGA of South Africa in 1957. Under the sponsorship of Dunlop the event transitioned into a 72-hole stroke play event in 1960. The first edition of the new Dunlop Masters, at Houghton Golf Club in 1960, was won by Gary Player with an aggregate score of 266, a record that stood for 44 years. Player's total was equalled in 1970 by John Fourie, the only amateur to claim the title. David Huish
David Huish (born 23 April 1944) is a Scottish professional golfer, perhaps best known for being the halfway leader of The Open Championship in 1975. Personal life Huish (pronounced "hush") was born in North Berwick, Scotland. He married his second wife Diane in 1989 with whom he had a son, Oliver, in 1990. He also has two children from a previous marriage, Susan (b. 1967) and Martyn (1969). Career Huish turned professional in 1959, with his first job being as an assistant at Gullane. He took up his first head professional position at Hamilton Golf Club in 1965, soon after winning the Scottish Assistants' Championship at Longniddry. Lawrence Batley Seniors
The Lawrence Batley Seniors was a senior (over 50s) men's professional golf tournament on the European Senior Tour. It was played from 1992 to 2002 in the Huddersfield area of West Yorkshire, England. From 1995 the tournament was held at Huddersfield Golf Club, north of Huddersfield, while in 1994 it was held at Woodsome Hall Golf Club, south-west of Huddersfield, and in 1992 and 1993 at both venues. The tournament was sponsored by Lawrence Batley who had earlier supported a European Tour event, the Lawrence Batley International, from 1981 to 1987. Batley died in August 2002, soon after the final tournament. Vincent Vesele Tshabalala (16 March 1942 – 3 June 2017) was a South African professional golfer. He won a number of tournaments organised by the non-white Tournament Players Association and in 1976 he won the French Open. Biography Tshabalala was born on 16 March 1942 to Philip and Maria Tshabalala in Rietvlei and had eight siblings. He attended George Goch school and shortly thereafter completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic. Tshabalala was introduced to golf at Rietvlei Golf Club, where he worked as a caddie after school, and saved up for golf clubs to pursue his passion for golf, a sport that was historically a white sport. Neil Coles
Neil Chapman Coles, MBE (born 26 September 1934) is an English professional golfer. Coles had a successful career in European golf, winning 29 important tournaments between 1956 and 1982. After reaching 50, he won a further 14 important Seniors tournaments between 1985 and 2002, winning his final European Seniors Tour event at the age of 67. He also played in eight Ryder Cup matches between 1961 and 1977. Early life Coles was born in London, England, and grew up in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
