John Fay (American Football)
John Carl "Doc" Fay, Sr. (November 27, 1895 – March 14, 1983) was an American football end for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League {NFL). Biography Fay was born in La Crosse in 1895, and attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School along with Central High School. He graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee in 1918, where he played football and basketball. He organized and captained the basketball teams of 1916 and 1917. Graduating in 1918 with a dentistry degree, Fay briefly practiced with a dental company in Georgia as an enlisted serviceman in World War I, then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and finally to Menasha, Wisconsin, working as a dentist. John Fay (politician)
John Fay (February 10, 1773June 21, 1855) was an American politician from New York. Life Fay attended the common schools for a period of only six months. He removed to New York with his parents, who settled in Montgomery County, and later in Galway, Saratoga County. In 1804, Fay removed to Northampton, then in Montgomery County. He became a land surveyor and later engaged in agricultural pursuits, milling, and manufacturing. He held various local offices and was Postmaster of Northampton for several years. He was a member from Montgomery County of the New York State Assembly in 1808-09 and 1812. Fay was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the 16th United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1819, to March 3, 1821. Afterwards he resumed his former activities. John Fay is a British television screenwriter and playwright. He is known for his work on television soap operas ''Brookside'' and '' Coronation Street'' as well as his later work on original drama series like ''Torchwood''. Career Theatre writing Fay began his writing career by writing and producing his own stage plays for local theatres around Liverpool, including several plays for Kirkby Response Theatre during the nineties. His later credits include the stage plays ''The Cruel Sea'' and ''Eat My Eyes''. He has also written 'Joe Hill's Dream', based on the life of Joe Hill, the famous Swedish-American labour activist and songwriter. Television Fay began his television career on ''Brookside'', although he states in an interview that it took him 16 years and several speculative scripts to get taken on to the writing staff full-time. The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as the Hip, were a Canadian rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario in 1984, consisting of vocalist Gord Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker (known as Bobby Baker until 1994), bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. They released 13 studio albums, one live album, one EP, and over 50 singles over a 33-year career. Nine of their albums have reached No. 1 on the Canadian charts. They have received numerous Canadian music awards, including 17 Juno Awards. Between 1996 and 2016, the Tragically Hip were the best-selling Canadian band in Canada and the fourth best-selling Canadian artist overall in Canada.
