John Early (educator)
John Early (July 1, 1814 – May 23, 1873) was an Irish-American Catholic priest and Jesuit educator who was the president of the College of the Holy Cross and Georgetown University, as well as the founder and first president of Loyola College in Maryland. Born in Ireland, he emigrated to the United States at the age of nineteen. Upon his arrival, he enrolled at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Maryland, and entered the Society of Jesus, completing his education at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Early became president of the College of the Holy Cross in 1848, where he unsuccessfully petitioned the Massachusetts legislature to charter the school. Four years later, he was charged with establishing Loyola College in Maryland, which was intended to educate the lay students who attended St. Mary's Seminary and College, which the Sulpicians sought to keep as a seminary only. John Early (politician)
John Early (March 17, 1828 – September 2, 1877) was a Canadian American politician. Coming to Rockford, Illinois, to practice carpentry, Early rose to become an agent for the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company. A staunch abolitionist, Early was an early supporter of the Republican Party and was voted to the Illinois Senate on the ticket four times. During one of these terms, he was elected President of the Illinois Senate, thus acting Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. Early died before his fourth term was completed. John Early (January 1, 1786 – November 5, 1873) was instrumental in organizing the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and was their bishop from 1854. Early and family life John Early was born in the Forest, Virginia neighborhood of Bedford County, Virginia, to Joshua Early (1738–1812) and his wife, the former Mary Leftwich (1746–1818). He married Ann Winnifred Jones (1790–1820) in 1815 and Elizabeth Browne Rives (1805–1857) in 1822. He fathered seven children in his second marriage. Career Although his parents were Baptist, Early awakened to Methodism in 1804, appreciating early circuit riders' eloquence and fire at camp meetings. John Early (born January 21, 1988) is an American comedian and actor. He has appeared on ''30 Rock'' as Jenna Maroney's son and in the independent film ''Fort Tilden''. He starred in '' Search Party'', which aired on TBS and HBO Max from 2016 to 2022. Early life Early is from Nashville, Tennessee.
