John E. Raker
John Edward Raker (February 22, 1863 – January 22, 1926) was an American lawyer and politician who served as a Democratic Party Congressional representative for California, serving eight terms from 1911 to 1926. Life He was born near Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois, on February 22, 1863, and moved with his parents, Christian Raker and Mary E. (née Rambo) Raker, to Lassen County, California, in 1873. After attending public school and the State normal school at San Jose from 1882–1884, he studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1885 and began practicing law in Susanville. On December 6, 1886, he moved to Alturas. He was District Attorney of Modoc County from 1895–1899, and Judge of the Superior Court of Modoc County from January 5, 1903, to December 19, 1910, when he resigned. California's 1st Congressional District
California's 1st congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in California. Doug LaMalfa, a Republican, has represented the district since January 2013. Currently, it encompasses the northeastern part of the state. Since the 2022 election, it includes the counties of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, and Tehama, and most of Yuba County. The largest cities in the district are Chico, Redding, and Yuba City. Prior to redistricting in 2021, it included Butte County, Lassen County, Modoc County, Plumas County, Shasta County, Sierra County, Siskiyou County, Tehama County, most of Nevada County, part of Glenn County and part of Placer County. William Kent (American Politician)
William Kent (March 29, 1864 – March 13, 1928) was an American politician, conservationist and philanthropist from Marin County, California. He served as a U.S. Representative from Northern California between 1911 and 1917, and was instrumental in the creation of Muir Woods National Monument. Early life Kent was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 29, 1864. His parents, Adaline Elizabeth Dutton and meatpacking magnate Albert Emmett Kent (A.E. Kent) moved the family to Marin County in California in 1871, where his father had purchased 800 acres of valley land that would later become the town Kentfield, California. He graduated from Yale University in 1887, where he was a member of Skull and Bones.
