John Duruset
John Duruset (1793–1843) was a British stage actor and singer. He is also known as Jack Duruset and John Durousset. Born in London and showing a gift, he was apprenticed to the Italian composer and music teacher Domenico Corri. An early role came in Theodore Hook's ''The Siege of St Quintin'' (1808) at Drury Lane.''The Gentleman's Magazine, and Historical Chronicle, Volume 175''. Edward Cave, 1844. p.438 Following the Drury Lane Fire of 1809 he moved with the company to the Lyceum Theatre. From 1810 was a regular for many years at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. Fanny Kemble
Frances Anne "Fanny" Kemble (27 November 180915 January 1893) was a British actress from a theatre family in the early and mid-19th century. She was a well-known and popular writer and abolitionist, whose published works included plays, poetry, eleven volumes of memoirs, travel writing and works about the theatre. George Rodwell
George Herbert Buonaparte Rodwell (1800–1852) was an English composer, musical director, and author. Life The brother of James Thomas Gooderham Rodwell (died 1825), playwright and lessee of London's Adelphi Theatre, was born in London, 15 November 1800. A pupil of Vincent Novello and Henry Rowley Bishop, he became in 1828 professor of harmony and composition at the Royal Academy of Music. On the death of his brother James in 1825, Rodwell succeeded to the proprietorship of the Adelphi Theatre; but Frederick Henry Yates with Daniel Terry bought him out very shortly, at a price of £30,000. Rodwell then mainly occupied himself with directing the music at the theatre, and in composition for the stage. John Howard Payne
John Howard Payne (June 9, 1791 – April 10, 1852) was an American actor, poet, playwright, and author who had nearly two decades of a theatrical career and success in London. He is today most remembered as the creator of "Home! Sweet Home!", a song he wrote in 1822 that became widely popular in the United States and the English-speaking world. Its popularity was revived during the American Civil War, as troops on both sides embraced it. After his return to the United States in 1832, Payne spent time with the Cherokee Indians in the Southeast and interviewed many elders. Intending to write about them, he amassed material about their culture, language and society, which have been useful to scholars. But his published theory that suggested their origin as one of the Ten Lost Tribes of ancient Israel has been thoroughly disproved. George Colman The Younger
George Colman (21 October 1762 – 17 October 1836), known as "the Younger", was an English dramatist and miscellaneous writer. He was the son of George Colman the Elder. Life He passed from Westminster School to Christ Church, Oxford, and King's College, University of Aberdeen, and was finally entered as a student of law at Lincoln's Inn, London. While in Aberdeen, he published a poem satirizing Charles James Fox, called ''The Man of the People.'' In 1782 he produced his first play, ''The Female Dramatist'',at his father's playhouse in the Haymarket. The failing health of the elder Colman obliged him to relinquish the management of the Haymarket theatre in 1789, when the younger George succeeded him, at a yearly salary of £600.
